Bioluminescence & Sunset Boat Tour at Los Arcos Sanctuary
Experience the rare combination of a Pacific sunset and natural bioluminescence in one tour. Swim in a protected marine reserve guided by local experts for a truly immersive nighttime adventure.
You will meet your host in the late afternoon in Zona Romántica, where the group will be welcomed and given a short introduction. From there, you will travel together to the coastal village of Mismaloya. Upon arrival, you will receive a welcome drink to set the tone for the evening. As the sun begins to set, you will spend time on the water during golden hour and watch the sunset over the Pacific from the bay. This part of the experience is relaxed, with time to enjoy the views or take photos as daylight fades. After nightfall, you will continue to the Los Arcos rock formations, a protected marine area known for its natural bioluminescence. In low-light conditions, movement in the water creates a blue glow caused by microscopic organisms. In sheltered areas near the rock formations, the bioluminescence becomes more visible. If you choose, you may enter the water for a swim to experience the bioluminescence up close, while others may observe from the the boat. Swimming is always optional, and the focus remains on a calm and respectful interaction with the environment. The experience takes place in a small group, allowing for a quieter and more personal atmosphere. After spending time observing and, if desired, swimming in the bioluminescent water, we will return by boat to the meeting point area.
